Updates are recent announcements and press releases of interest to our coaches, teams and guests:

June 1, 2008 Deion "Prime Time" Sanders named PrimeTime Sports spokesman

Former NFL great joins his namesake, a national leader in youth sports event management

DALLAS — PrimeTime Sports, a recognized leader in youth sports event management, announced today that it has reached agreement with former NFL great Deion Sanders to become the company's primary spokesman.

Sanders' decorated NFL career included two Super Bowl championships and eight Pro Bowl selections. Sanders, regarded as one of pro football's all-time best cornerbacks, also played professional baseball over nine seasons.

Dallas-based PrimeTime Sports is a comprehensive provider of sports event management. CEO David Stephens, along with a team of 10 full-time employees and hundreds of seasonal employees, market, manage, support and execute more than 100 boys and girls' sports events each year.

Coincidentally nicknamed "Prime Time," Sanders is the only person to play in a Super Bowl and a World Series. He can now be seen on his new reality series, "Deion & Pilar: Prime Time Love," on the Oxygen channel.

Sanders' role as national spokesman will include personal appearances and media appearances on PrimeTime Sports' behalf, and he will be featured on various marketing and promotional material.

"My son competed in a PTS tournament last year," Sanders said. "I was so impressed with the quality of service, organization and parent-friendly environment that I had to be a part of this great organization.

"As a parent, I want what all parents want: an affordable, well organized sports environment that my children can enjoy, and PTS offers just that."

Founded by Stephens and Jason Maupin in 2000, PrimeTime Sports is committed to organizing and promoting only the highest quality tournaments and competitive opportunities for young athletes.

PrimeTime Sports currently offers basketball, football and soccer events, with plans to add additional markets and sports. Its annual National Basketball Championship, held in North Texas each July, highlights the company calendar. The 2008 National Basketball Championship will be July 23-27 in and around Dallas. With nearly 600 teams participating, the National Championship is the largest single-venue youth basketball national championship.

"Deion was familiar with PrimeTime Sports because his son has played in our events," Stephens said. "He liked our philosophy, our approach, our organizational values, and that's one reason we matched up so well."

Stephens took special note of Sanders' mentoring approach when he observed the father and son during their first PrimeTime Sports basketball tournament.

"He was positive with the kids, he was instructive, and the level of caring and compassion he displayed for the young athletes was impressive," Stephens said. "That's why I think it's a great match. He strove for excellence when he was a participant, and now he strives for excellence in all his many ventures."
